Philippine Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was arrested on a nonbailable plunder charge over allegations that he accepted $1.2 million in undeclared donations, Reuters reported on July 6. Marcoleta was due to sit as one of the 24 senators serving as judges in Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial, which also began on July 6.

Marcoleta's arrest follows the arrest of a second Duterte-aligned senator, as well as the disappearance from public view of a third as he evades a warrant for his arrest by the International Criminal Court.
