Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded a three-day visit to Seychelles on June 29, during which the two countries signed 19 agreements on sectors ranging from maritime security, healthcare and digital public infrastructure, the Seychelles News Agency reported June 30. The Times of India also reported on June 29 that the two countries agreed for India to dispatch four military advisers to Seychelles, who are scheduled to work closely with the country's defense and security institutions.

Modi's visit comes after Seychellois President Patrick Herminie won the country's 2025 presidential election, defeating former president Wavel Ramkalawan, who had overseen a cooling of ties with India. In 2015, India reached an agreement with Seychelles to develop a military facility on Assumption Island, but the deal collapsed in 2018 after leaked details triggered widespread domestic backlash.
