The United States and Iran agreed to establish a deconfliction cell to help ensure adherence to the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire in Lebanon, Axios reported on June 22.

Washington and Tehran are trying to preserve their memorandum of understanding, signed on June 17, after renewed tensions over the Strait of Hormuz and fighting between Israel and Hezbollah threatened to derail June 21-22 talks in Switzerland. Meanwhile, direct talks between Lebanon and Israel are scheduled to take place in Washington on June 23-25.
