The National Election Board of Ethiopia announced that the country's ruling Prosperity Party won 438 out of the 501 parliamentary constituencies contested on June 1, paving the way for Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's reelection, Addis Standard reported on June 22. The board announced that recounts would take place in 10 parliamentary constituencies and that repolls would take place in six others.

Ethiopia's House of Peoples' Representatives comprises a total of 547 seats, but the general election did not take place in Tigray due to several tensions between the federal government and the TPLF, which governs most of the province. Voting also did not take place in eight of Amhara's 138 parliamentary constituencies.
