Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to discuss strengthening bilateral relations across a range of sectors, including trade, investment and energy, The Daily Star reported on June 22. Next, Rahman will travel to China for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Li Keqiang.
The visit reflects Bangladesh's efforts to strengthen economic partnerships, create more employment opportunities abroad and advance its broader foreign policy objectives. While relations between Bangladesh and India have improved since Rahman took office in February, underlying frictions have persisted, including border tensions and reported migrant push-ins.
