The Group of Seven leaders agreed to increase deliveries of air defense systems, interceptors and long-range capabilities to Ukraine and said they were ready to grant Ukraine licenses to expand military production, Reuters reported on June 17. Separately, MBDA, the European maker of Storm Shadow missiles, signed a memorandum with Ukraine's Luch Design Bureau to cooperate on long-range strike capabilities under the Neptune-2 project.
G7 leaders also committed to additional sanctions on Russia's oil and gas sectors and support for Ukraine's energy resilience before winter, although Bulgaria's objection to some proposed EU listings will likely mean that translating summit unity into binding European sanctions will remain politically uneven.
