Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a new round of negotiations with the United States focused on Iran's nuclear program will likely begin on June 19 after the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding enters into effect, Al Jazeera reported on June 16. Senior U.S. officials, including CIA Director John Ratcliffe, have expressed skepticism that Iran will be willing to make the nuclear concessions that the United States is seeking.

U.S. President Donald Trump said he would publicly release the MoU's text on June 19 following the official signing, although U.S. Vice President JD Vance noted it could be released earlier. Araghchi has also said additional Israeli attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon or a persistent Israeli military presence in southern Lebanon would constitute violations of the MoU, which reportedly calls for a complete halt to military operations throughout the region. Trump has previously threatened to renew attacks against Iran should nuclear talks falter.
