Taiwan's National Security Bureau announced online on June 15 that it had established a reporting hotline to encourage Chinese citizens, including public officials, to provide intelligence to Taipei about China's ruling regime. The bureau noted growing public discontent with the Chinese regime and an increasing number of Chinese citizens approaching them with information.

Since Lai took office in May 2024, the Taipei government has become more active in combating national security threats and aligning its counter-China policies, like this one, with those of the West, as the United States and the United Kingdom have also recently instituted similar hotlines.
