The United Kingdom, France and Germany, known as the E3, plan to use meetings with U.S. President Donald Trump at the Group of Seven summit on June 15-17 to seek U.S. backing for a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire proposal that would use the current front line as the starting point for negotiations and include robust security guarantees for Ukraine, Bloomberg reported on June 11.

The E3 and Ukraine outlined their ceasefire and security guarantee terms after talks in London, United Kingdom, on June 7, as European diplomats have opened contact with Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Russia appears to be making Kostiantynivka the main objective of its spring and summer offensive in the Donetsk region after failing to break through toward Slovyansk. Russia's degraded effort in Zaporizhzhia will further increase the importance of Donetsk as the main test of Russia's offensive potential.
