Ukrainian forces struck several facilities at the Russian-occupied port of Mariupol, leaving the port without power and significantly limiting its use as a logistics hub, Reuters reported June 10. Kyiv said the port was used for Russian military logistics and the illegal export of Ukrainian grain, coal and metal.
Ukraine is exploiting a time-sensitive strike advantage before Russia adapts its rear area logistics and air defenses. Kyiv's campaign is increasingly focused on the middle ground between the front line and deep Russia, including roads, railways, fuel sites and military infrastructure in occupied southern Ukraine. As a result, Russian-controlled Crimea is facing fuel rationing. At the same time, Russian attacks on Odesa ports are threatening Ukraine's own export capacity, showing that southern logistics and maritime infrastructure remain a two-sided contest.
