Chinese President Xi Jinping met with North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang, North Korea, on June 8, Xinhua News Agency reported the same day. Xi proposed four points on developing relations: expanding leadership and military talks; enhancing cooperation in trade, agriculture, construction, technology and healthcare; strengthening ties in tourism, education and the media; and cooperating to oppose global hegemonism, power politics and the revival of militarism in the region.

Kim visited Beijing at Xi's invitation to attend a military parade in September 2025, so this is a belated reciprocal visit. North Korea-Russia relations have rapidly deepened in recent years, weakening China's relative influence as Pyongyang's long-time economic benefactor.
