Ukrainian long-range drones struck oil storage facilities in St. Petersburg, Russia, early on June 3, hours before the opening of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on his Telegram channel that day. Zelensky also said Ukrainian drones hit the Kronstadt naval base and shipyard in the Leningrad region and a weapons-producing facility in the Tambov region.

The forum is expected to draw about 20,000 visitors from 130 countries, and Putin is due to speak there on June 5. Kyiv is using long-range strikes to target Russian military and energy assets while creating visible political costs during Kremlin-staged events. Ukraine will almost certainly conduct more strikes over the summer, highlighting that Russian air defenses remain increasingly overextended against low-cost, long-range drone attacks.
