Tehran is reportedly still reviewing and discussing the draft memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, Iran's semi-official news outlet Mehr News Agency reported on June 2. This follows U.S. President Donald Trump's June 1 claims on Truth Social that Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to a partial ceasefire, and the next day, a senior Houthi official warned that Israel would face a broad response from regional Iran-aligned forces if Israel escalated attacks in Lebanon.
Iranian media close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported on June 1 that Iran suspended discussions with the United States and messaging via intermediaries due to Israel's ongoing military actions in Lebanon, which Iran considers a violation of the ceasefire. The same day, U.S. President Donald Trump and Lebanon's Embassy in Washington announced a partial ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel, under which Hezbollah agreed to stop attacking northern Israel in return for a cessation of Israeli attacks on Beirut.
