India will hold talks with a U.S. delegation in New Delhi the week of June 1, while Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal will separately meet with his British counterpart, Peter Kyle, Bloomberg reported on June 2. Duty exemptions are likely to feature prominently in both sets of talks.

Although the United States and India agreed to an interim trade deal in February, the subsequent Supreme Court ruling striking down tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and the launch of a Section 301 investigation into India have complicated negotiations and delayed the agreement's finalization. Meanwhile, the India-U.K. free trade agreement, signed in May 2025 and due to take effect in 2026, faces new challenges following the United Kingdom's proposal to tighten steel import quotas and raise tariffs to shield domestic producers.
