The UAE government said that construction of the West-East Pipeline, intended to double oil export capacity through Fujairah by 2027, would be fast-tracked, Reuters reported May 15.

Although the United Arab Emirates relies heavily on the Strait of Hormuz for oil and gas exports, the Habshan-Fujairah Pipeline through Fujairah Port, which has a capacity of 1.8 million barrels per day, has provided the United Arab Emirates with an alternative.
