Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Alex Karp, the CEO of U.S. artificial intelligence company Palantir, as Kyiv expands its use of AI in the war against Russia, Reuters reported on May 12. The meeting follows the launch of Brave1 Dataroom, a joint project that uses Ukraine's combat data to develop AI tools to detect and intercept Russian drones.
Since 2022, Palantir has helped Ukraine analyze Russian air strikes, process large volumes of intelligence data, integrate AI tools into deep strike planning, and support war crimes evidence collection, demining and civilian data systems. Brave1 Dataroom provides vetted Ukrainian defense companies with controlled access to sensitive battlefield data, enabling them to train and test models without broadly releasing military datasets. Ukraine's Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said more than 100 companies are training over 80 models to detect and intercept aerial targets. Kyiv and Washington are also reportedly discussing a potential defense deal covering Ukrainian technology exports and joint drone production.
