In a May 10 Truth Social post, U.S. President Donald Trump called Iran's May 10 response to the latest U.S. proposal to end the war "TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE." According to a Wall Street Journal report the same day, Tehran called for an immediate end to fighting, reparations, a gradual reopening of and total Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz, and a 30-day period of nuclear negotiations.

Netanyahu stated on May 10 that the war with Iran was "not over" and hinted at a possible U.S. or Israeli operation to remove enriched uranium. U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani in Miami, Florida, on May 9 to discuss the one-page U.S-Iran memorandum of understanding proposal. CIA estimates suggest Iran could last approximately three to four months under the U.S. naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz before economic pressure becomes severe.
