Representatives of the European Parliament, the European Council and the European Commission will meet to discuss the 2025 EU-U.S. trade agreement on May 6, Euronews reported the same day. The meeting will focus on aligning institutional positions on tariff reductions, legal safeguards and the timeline for implementation.

The May 6 meeting will take place amid escalating trade tensions between the European Union and the United States. Although the 2025 agreement established a framework to cap tariffs and reduce trade barriers, disputes have emerged over implementation speed and compliance. The United States recently threatened to impose a 25% tariff on EU cars and accused the bloc of delaying its commitments. Internally, the European Union is divided between member states (such as Germany) that favor rapid implementation to stabilize transatlantic trade and others (such as France), alongside many members of the European Parliament, pushing for stricter safeguards due to concerns about U.S. reliability.
