Israeli President Isaac Herzog paid an official visit to Kazakhstan on April 27-28, where he met President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and other senior officials to discuss trade, technology, artificial intelligence and political ties, KazTAG reported on April 27. The trip was the highest-level Israeli visit to Kazakhstan since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited in 2016, and it comes as Israel and Kazakhstan seek to deepen bilateral ties following Astana's November 2025 decision to join the Abraham Accords.

Kazakhstan announced its accession to the Abraham Accords ahead of Central Asian countries' summit in Washington in November 2025. Although Herzog's visit had been planned before this announcement, the decision gave the trip greater political significance. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar also visited Astana in January 2026 to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation. Crude petroleum remains a main pillar of Kazakhstan's exports to Israel.
