The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump accused China of carrying out "industrial-scale" theft of U.S. artificial intelligence technology, saying China-based actors used proxy accounts and jailbreaking techniques to extract proprietary data from leading U.S. models, The Financial Times reported April 23. The administration said it will share intelligence with U.S. AI firms and explore ways to hold foreign actors accountable. The accusation has also cast doubt on Nvidia's planned shipments of its H200 chip to China.
The allegation and Trump's upcoming visit to China come as Washington abd Beijing are trying to manage a broader relationship already strained by trade, export controls and security tensions.
