Pakistani and Iranian sources said a renewed push for a second round of U.S.-Iran talks was underway, aiming to schedule negotiations later the week of April 13 or early the week of April 20, Reuters reported on April 14. Meanwhile, in the Strait of Hormuz, a handful of ships not associated with Iran appear to have exited the Persian Gulf amid the Iranian and U.S. blockades.

Prior talks led by U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf failed to achieve a major breakthrough on April 12, driven by maximalist aims on both sides. Pakistani media sources suggested that the new format might include high-level leaders, including President Donald Trump. The White House did not immediately comment on the proposal.
