An Israel Defense Forces spokesperson said on April 13 that after Israel completes military operations against Hezbollah in Bint Jbeil — a town roughly five kilometers (three miles) from the Israel-Lebanon border — in the upcoming days, the IDF will have completed major military operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, The Jerusalem Post reported the same day. Even so, the spokesperson said the IDF will likely conduct additional smaller operations to clear weapons and combat remaining Hezbollah fighters in the area.

On April 10, Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors held a phone call to set a date for direct negotiations, a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel would enter into direct negotiations with Lebanon following U.S. pressure. However, there is no ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. During an April 12 visit to IDF forces in southern Lebanon, Netanyahu said the IDF had eliminated the threat of a Hezbollah ground invasion, but said there was more to be done, including within the "security zone" in southern Lebanon.
