Iran-linked hacking group Handala Hack claimed on April 12 to have destroyed 6 petabytes of data and stolen 149 terabytes of sensitive information in a cyberattack against three Dubai government organizations, SecurityWeek reported on April 13. The hackers said the attack was retaliation for the "betrayal of the Resistance Axis by the Epsteinist leaders of the UAE" and served as a "preemptive warning to all treacherous governments in the region."
Entities targeted include the Dubai Courts Department, the Dubai Land Department and the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority. Following an announced ceasefire between the United States and Iran on April 7, Handala issued a statement saying, "the cyber war did not begin with the military conflict, and it will not end with any military ceasefire." However, the group said it would temporarily pause attacks on the United States while continuing to target Israel. The group is also responsible for a number of distributed denial-of-service attacks since the start of the conflict, as well as a major hack against U.S.-based medical giant Stryker that wiped data from devices and caused weeks of operational downtime.
