On April 8, the Israel Defense Forces conducted its largest wave of strikes across Lebanon since the Israel-Hezbollah war began in early March, The Times of Israel reported the same day. The strikes took place just hours after the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire, which Israel has stated does not apply to its operations against Hezbollah, which Iran backs.

Since Hezbollah joined the war alongside Iran, Israel has tried to separate the Lebanon front from the broader regional conflict, continuing its operations regardless of developments between the United States and Iran. The IDF has pushed deeper into southern Lebanon, establishing a buffer zone to reduce Hezbollah attacks. Israel's stated objective remains the disarmament of Hezbollah across Lebanon, alongside degrading its military capabilities and limiting its presence near the border.
