An Israeli airstrike accidentally killed an official of the anti-Hezbollah Lebanese Forces Party in an airstrike on the Christian town of Ain Saadeh east of Beirut, marking the first such casualty, and the Lebanese Forces responded by criticizing Hezbollah for its entry into the Iran war in March, Reuters reported on April 6. Meanwhile, Israel Defense Forces Northern Command head Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo said the IDF had overestimated Hezbollah's weakness during its ground campaign, adding that Hezbollah could still fire hundreds of rockets into Israel despite the damage done in the 2023-24 conflict.

Israel believed that it had destroyed up to 70%-80% of Hezbollah's arsenal in the 2023-24 war and that the loss of Syria as a supply route had fundamentally weakened the group. However, since the IDF began new ground incursions into southern Lebanon during the Iran war, Hezbollah has shown resilience and has conducted strikes on Israeli troops and cities. Though Israel claims to have killed up to 1,000 Hezbollah fighters, the group has managed to kill 11 Israeli soldiers and wound hundreds more in notable losses for the Israeli army.
