Uganda's army chief, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, announced in an April 2 post on X that Ugandan troops would "remain in [their] positions" in the Democratic Republic of the Congo's Lubero area. This comes after he stated in late March that Uganda would withdraw troops from the area amid tensions with local Congolese authorities.
Muhoozi said in a March 25 post on X that Uganda would withdraw its troops from the Lubero area on April 3. He also said that Uganda was ready to fully withdraw its forces from eastern Congo if the governor of Congo's Ituri province, Gen. Johnny Luboya Nkashama, was not removed.
