The Ethiopian government issued directives on remote work and mandatory leave for nonessential employees at public institutions and state-owned enterprises to ease fuel demand amid emerging shortages in the country linked to the Iran war, Addis Standard reported on March 30. Meanwhile, in neighboring Kenya, President William Ruto announced that the government was ready to advance mitigating measures in the face of higher fuel prices caused by the Iran war, following his government's announcement on March 26 that it would use a petroleum development levy to stabilize prices.

Kenya has concluded several government-to-government fuel supply agreements with the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, which the Ruto administration claims play an important role in ensuring the country's fuel security.
