Ukrainian drones struck oil-product facilities at Russia's Ust-Luga Baltic port, damaging storage tanks and loading infrastructure and causing a fire, Bloomberg reported on March 25. Together with Ukraine's earlier strike on the nearby Primorsk port, the attacks mark one of the most significant recent assaults on Russia's Baltic export infrastructure and will likely add to uncertainty in global oil markets already affected by the Middle East conflict.

Ust-Luga is one of Russia's main Baltic export hubs, handling hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil per day, and the strike follows a recent Ukrainian attack on the nearby Primorsk port that halted loadings. Reuters calculations indicate that cumulative Ukrainian strikes and the Druzhba pipeline disruptions have affected at least 40% of Russia's western export capacity. Russia also carried out large-scale overnight drone attacks on Ukraine, with Kyiv reporting more than 1,000 launches.
