South Korea's National Assembly passed a bill to carry out Seoul's pledge to invest $350 billion in U.S. projects, fulfilling a portion of the U.S.-South Korea trade deal signed in October 2025, Yonhap News Agency reported on March 12. This bill includes $150 billion in funding for shipbuilding projects and $200 billion for projects in strategic sectors.
U.S. President Donald Trump in January threatened to raise U.S. tariffs on South Korea from 15% to 25%, negating a key tariff concession from their October deal, due to Seoul's failure thus far to pass a bill implementing the deal.
