U.S. President Donald Trump said the Iran war is "very complete, pretty much" and also said he is considering taking over the Strait of Hormuz to enable maritime shipping — especially oil exports — to resume and threatened greater retaliation against Iran if it tried to stop oil shipments, AP reported on March 9. However, both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth indicated the conflict would continue, with Hegseth threatening the most intense day of strikes against Iran on March 10.

Iran conducted additional attacks on Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. On X, Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf wrote that "We are definitely not looking for a ceasefire." The Turkish defense ministry announced that NATO deployed a Patriot missile system to central Turkey after NATO air defense systems intercepted another ballistic missile on March 9. Meanwhile, Israel conducted additional airstrikes against al-Qard al-Hasan, a financial organization with links to Hezbollah, in Lebanon.
