The U.S. Trump administration is set to meet with defense contractors to push for accelerated weapons production amid diminished munitions stockpiles while the United States escalates its attacks on Iran, using B-2 bombers to drop 2,000 pound bombs on underground ballistic missile sites in the second phase of the war, Reuters reported on March 6. Meanwhile, Israel conducted a series of airstrikes on the Beirut suburbs — including Hezbollah-controlled neighborhoods — as well as areas in southern and eastern Lebanon, causing Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to warn that a "humanitarian disaster" is looming.

Iran is delaying selecting its new supreme leader amid security concerns, particularly after Israel threatened to assassinate the successor. In addition, Iran conducted additional waves of attacks against Israel, U.S. assets and other regional targets. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian indicated that unnamed countries had begun mediation efforts, but U.S. President Donald Trump called for Iran's "unconditional surrender" in a Truth Social post on March 6. A day earlier, the U.S. House of Representatives rejected the war powers resolution, which would have curbed Trump's powers in the Iran war, in a narrow 212-219 vote.
