Israel's military called for full-scale evacuations of southern Beirut ahead of massive air strikes there, as signs mounted that Israel was preparing a large ground incursion into southern Lebanon, The Times of Israel reported on March 5. Israel also ordered evacuations of villages south of the Litani River.
Israel has deployed the 91st Division to southeastern Lebanon, the 210th to Mount Dov and the 146th to southwest Lebanon. The 91st and 210th are the divisions typically responsible for defense along the northern border, and they include armor units for maneuvering. The 146th is a reserve armored division designed for deeper incursions. Other units reportedly intend to head north, like the 98th Division, which would be key for offensive maneuvering deep into Lebanon.
