Sudan's Sudanese Armed Forces-backed government accused Ethiopia of allowing its territory to be used to conduct drone attacks inside Sudan and said such actions represented "a clear act of aggression," Sudan Tribune reported on March 2. The SAF warned Ethiopian authorities to halt these operations, stressing that Sudan had a "right to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity" via "various methods and measures."

Unnamed SAF sources have accused Ethiopia of hosting military facilities for the RSF since December 2025, and a Reuters report published on Feb. 10 detailed evidence of a large RSF military facility in Ethiopia's western Benishangul-Gumuz region. Meanwhile, the RSF launched an offensive in Blue Nile state in late January, with the apparent goal of opening a new major front against the SAF at a time when the latter has regained the initiative in the central Kordofan region.
