Iran attacked the U.S. embassies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, resulting in their closures and calls for nonessential U.S. personnel to evacuate from the region, The New York Times reported March 3. Iranian attacks also targeted commercial assets, U.S. military assets and some energy infrastructure in Gulf countries, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened to attack ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
Israel conducted additional strikes against Iran on Tuesday. Iran's Red Crescent reports a death toll of close to 800 so far. Additionally, Trump said that the "big wave" of attacks against Iran was yet to come and that the United States was prepared for a long conflict, despite his initial projection that the war would last four to five weeks. He did not rule out the possibility of putting boots on the ground. The attack on the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia caused a "limited fire" and no casualties, according to Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry.
