Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced the launch of Humain, an artificial intelligence company owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, that will work on developing various AI models and applications, including large language models in Arabic, data centers and cloud computing infrastructure, Okaz reported on May 12.
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have invested heavily in AI in recent years, viewing the investments as a critical part of their overall economic transformation strategies away from a reliance on energy exports. Scrutiny of these strategies has increased in recent weeks as oil prices remain in the $60s and countries like Saudi Arabia are expected to run large budget deficits in 2025.
