U.S. President Donald Trump held his first officially recognized phone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and, immediately afterward, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky since retaking office on Jan. 20, Reuters reported on Feb. 12. During his conversation with Putin, Trump named several officials who would "immediately" begin negotiations to end the war but did not mention Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, while the head of Zelensky's office Andriy Yermak said Trump and Zelensky agreed to start building negotiating teams to end the war.
