The Canadian government directed social media platform TikTok, owned by Chinese-based company ByteDance, to close its offices in the country due to national security risks, The New York Times reported on Nov. 7. The app, however, will still be available for public use in Canada, and TikTok has already publicly stated that it will challenge the order in court.
