At least three members of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood have been killed and 265 arrested in clashes with security forces in and around Cairo, a statement from the Interior Ministry said, MENA reported Dec. 27. Three security officials were shot as a result of the unrest, including a deputy chief of police. The Egyptian government's decision to brand the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization in an effort to stamp out the country's most organized political group may strengthen jihadists elsewhere in the state.
