Sanaa's Mayor, Abdul Qadir Hilal, survived an assassination attempt late Oct. 24 during a visit to the Bab al-Yemen neighborhood, a security source said Oct. 25, Saba reported. The would-be assassins were soldiers at a security unit but wore civilian clothing when they attempted to shoot the mayor from a motorcycle, the sources said. A spate of assassinations has targeted officials in Sanaa .
