Clashes that erupted June 7 between Yemeni security forces and suspected al Qaeda militants at the gates of Zinjibar, Yemen, have left at least 15 people dead, including nine soldiers, military and medical sources said, AFP reported. According to local residents, the army has not yet managed to enter the city, which has been under the control of suspected al Qaeda militants since May 29. Only the military base in the city, home to the 25th Mechanized Brigade, remains under government control.
