Federica Mogherini, the high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy, has announced supplementary aid worth 138 million euros (roughly $155 million) to support the G5 Sahel Joint Force, RFI reported July 10. The announcement comes after the United Kingdom said it would extend its military mission in Mali by six months, as well as reports that French President Emmanuel Macron is preparing to meet his security Cabinet to discuss Paris' counterterrorism strategy in the region.
