The acting governor of the Russian-occupied Kherson region of Ukraine, Vladimir Saldo, appealed to Moscow with a request to organize the departure of Kherson families to other regions of Russia "for recreation and study," the Financial Times reported Oct. 13. The claims prompted unnamed Western military officials cited by the Financial Time to estimate that Ukraine could retake the Kherson region up to the Dnieper River as soon as next week.
