Heavy clashes were reported on the night of Jan. 28-29 near Niger's Diori Hamani International Airport, with footage showing the use of air defense systems, Jeune Afrique reported on Jan. 29. Clashes reportedly ended within a few hours, with open-source intelligence indicating that the attack was conducted by jihadist militants who allegedly used drones and destroyed several of the Nigerien security forces' attack drones, but this has yet to be confirmed.
