The three Moroccan nationals suspected to be involved in the April 28 Marrakech cafe bombing were arrested in Safi, AFP reported May 5. The individuals had police records and are known for recruiting fighters for Iraq. According to Agence Maghreb Arabe Presse, a communique from the Moroccan Interior Ministry said one of the suspects attempted to join jihadists in Chechnya and Iraq before deciding to stay in Morocco. The man used the Internet to learn how to make explosives and made two remote-controlled devices. He decided to target the Argana cafe in Marrakech due to the many Moroccans and foreigners that frequented the cafe, the statement said.
