The United Malays National Organization on June 10 demanded that the ruling Perikatan Nasional coalition conclude the current COVID-19 state of emergency and refrain from plans to establish a National Operations Council to replace the government, The Star reported. UMNO said that before the asked-for August end of the state of emergency, emergency powers must be used for economic relief by price controls, ordering a bank moratorium on loan repayments and other financial assistance.
