Three prominent Kuwaiti political dissidents returned to Kuwait on Nov. 15 after receiving pardons from the country’s ruling emir, Reuters has reported. On Nov. 13, Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah pardoned and reduced prison sentences for 35 total political dissidents, including 11 politicians who have been living and working in Turkey to avoid prosecution in Kuwait.
