Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi announced that Jordan will not move forward with an energy-for-water deal with Israel that was expected to be ratified in October and signed at the 2023 U.N. Climate Change Conference in November, Al Jazeera reported on Nov. 16. Under the deal, the United Arab Emirates would have funded a 600 megawatt solar plant in Jordan that would export clean energy to Israel in exchange for 200 million cubic meters of desalinated water per year from Israel.
