Japan is set to become the second country to ratify the successor to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), The Straits Times reported June 28.

After U.S. President Donald Trump chose to abandon the TPP, Japan continued to champion the deal and has managed to usher through a sweeping, although diminished, version of the trade agreement.
