Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Forces could deploy vessels off Yemen, a senior Japanese Cabinet member has hinted following earlier reports that the country was considering an independent mission instead of joining the U.S.-led Operation Sentinel near the Strait of Hormuz, The Japan Times reported Aug. 9.
