Gideon Sa'ar, a former member of Israel's ruling Likud party and the current chair of the New Hope party, announced that New Hope was leaving the wartime unity government because he had not been appointed to the War Cabinet, The Times of Israel reported on March 25. The defection brings the government to 72 seats from 76 out of 120 seats in the Knesset.
